Intro to the course:

The Life Options courses are designed for adults who require additional support for learning. The focus of all our courses is to develop core skills and promote independent living and personal development. 

Teaching takes place in small groups, with teaching and learning styles adapted to suit the needs of the students in the class. The course will include elements of social skills, drama, personal development, independent living, literacy and numeracy, safety and security. 

A three-year plan is followed with units in each block centred around the key themes of Independent Living, STEM, Meta-skills and Creativity.

Who is the course for?

This course is for adults with additional support needs.

What will I study?

You will develop social skills, skills in team working, literacy, numeracy and independent living skills.

Next step course options

Progression is inbuilt to the three-year cycle of this course. There It is possible progression to continue this part time course to further develop your skills. This is dependent on successful interview.

How will I be assessed?

Ongoing assessment throughout each unit of the course, appropriate to individual support needs.

Why should I choose this course?

This course will help build essential skills to promote your independence. Students will develop skills in communication, literacy, numeracy, team working, self awareness and independence.

Where can this course lead?

Skills learned throughout this course may be transferable to volunteering or part-time or supported employment.

What are the entry requirements?

Course entry is subject to interview to assess which level is best for you. 

Students who require their own additional support, for example during breaks and lunch time, require to have this in place before starting the course.  

What are the interview arrangements?

Interview on campus with the lecturing team. You should be accompanied by a parent/carer, or someone who knows you well and can discuss your support requirements. 

Fees, finance and funding

Fees for part time is £118

If you are unsuccessful in your SAASyour fee waiver evidence is insufficient, you may be liable for the full cost of course

Students on this course attend two days each week.
