Andrew Calderwood Legal Services

Andrew Calderwood is a part time Legal and Police Studies a part-time lecturer here at South Lanarkshire College. Andrew’s been working at the college for the past 3 years and teaches a variety of subjects on law including: criminal law, Scots Law, Scottish legal System, Scots Private Law and Business Law.

Andrew was formerly a Sergeant with Strathclyde Police and whilst in the Police Force studied law at Strathclyde University. He obtained his LLB then followed that up with a LLM in Human Rights Law. Andrew finally completed his education with a diploma in Legal Practice.

In 2005, Andrew left the Police and joined the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service )(COPFS) where during the first two years he undertook a traineeship. Following his traineeship, Andrew qualified as a fully trained Solicitor, he remained with COPFS for a few years working as a Prosecutor in the summary courts of the Justice of the Peace Court and Sheriff Court as well as Sheriff and Jury trials in the Sheriff court. Andrew began his teaching career working in the Scottish Prosecution College as a legal trainer. During this time he also gained experience working in the Scottish Fatalities Investigation Unit which allowed him to represent the Crown in Fatal Accident Inquiries. In 2019 Andrew joined the team at South Lanarkshire College as a part-time lecturer, where he dedicates his time to sharing his knowledge and experience with students on the Legal Studies and Police Studies courses.
