South Lanarkshire College is delighted to announce the appointment of two new Vice Principals, Elaine McKechnie and Angela Pignatelli.
Elaine McKechnie was appointed as Vice Principal – Finance, Resources & Sustainability on Monday 6th November 2023, following eight months in the role as Financial Accountant at the College.
Angela Pignatelli recently joined South Lanarkshire College on Monday 8th January 2024 as Vice Principal – Learning, Teaching & Student Experience having held the position of Assistant Principal and Digital Lead at West College Scotland for over ten years.
Elaine holds over 15 years’ experience as a Chartered Accountant within accounting private practice, banking, industry and most recently, the further education sector. Elaine studied her undergraduate degree in Accountancy with Finance at the University of Glasgow where she was awarded the Johnstone Smith Prize for the most outstanding Honours Graduate.
Elaine has a keen interest in developing financial and environmental sustainability through greater digitalisation, income diversification and the implementation of initiatives to maximise value. In her spare time, Elaine enjoys spending time with her husband and two children and loves to socialise with family and friends, She also volunteers in local community groups.
Angela has been working in the College sector for over 22 years. A graduate of the University of Glasgow in Philosophy and English Literature and Glasgow School of Art in Design, Angela is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and is a keen creative thinker. She is passionate about learning and teaching, realising students’ potential and enabling better life chances for students to thrive. Angela was involved in writing the National Professional Standards for Lecturers in Scotland’s Colleges, the Digital Ambition for Scotland’s Colleges and is an Associate Tutor for the University of Aberdeen for the TQFE.
On a personal note, Angela loves DIY, travelling, reading, gardening, and all things cultural.
