Congratulations Seonaid Berry on your induction to the South Lanarkshire College Wall of Fame.
At School, Seonaid Berry always knew she wanted a career in the events industry but didn’t really know which pathway to take. Seonaid attended Duncanrig Secondary in East Kilbride and after speaking with her Pupil Support Teacher decided she’d like to apply to South Lanarkshire College to complete the HND Events Management course. Seonaid said:
“I knew the College well as I’d attended the College Nursery as an infant and also had a great time in S4 when I undertook my School work experience in the South Lanarkshire College Marketing Department. I loved the College environment, the location and the lecturers seemed really focused and knowledgeable”.
Seonaid continued: “During the two years of the HND programme I studied a variety of subject areas, I created and ran events and even worked with my classmates to arrange a Family filled Gala Day and a Musical Bingo Night. For the Gala Day, we arranged lots of different activities suitable for all ages while gathering donations from local business to put in our raffle. All of the money that was made was donated to Marie Curie, which was our selected charity that year. Our Music Bingo Night was planned to raise money for the Mental Health Charity ‘See Me’, which helps to break the stigma surrounding Mental Health.
I loved my time at College and was thrilled to receive A passes in my graded units. After gaining an unconditional place, I’ve just completed my Year 3 degree in International Events Management at Glasgow Caledonian University.
