Ross and Luke - Plumbing Apprenticeships
Ross Gillon, owner of Gillon Bathrooms & Heating, is pleased to include apprentice, Luke, to the team. Having completed his own plumbing apprenticeship at South Lanarkshire College a decade ago, Ross has successfully built his business and is now committed to passing on his expertise to the next generation of skilled tradespeople.
“I remember how vital it was for me to have hands-on experience and guidance during my apprenticeship,” says Ross. “Now, as a business owner, it feels great to pass that knowledge on to someone else. I know how much it can change a young person’s career and life, just as it did for me.”
Luke, who began his apprenticeship in 2023, is eager to learn from Ross and gain valuable industry experience. “It’s great to work with someone who’s built their own business,” Luke shares. “Ross has been incredibly supportive already, and I’m looking forward to learning from him as I develop my skills.”
South Lanarkshire College played a key role in Ross’s career journey, providing him with the training and support he needed to establish himself in the industry. Now, he hopes to give back by mentoring the next wave of tradespeople. “It feels like a full-circle moment for me,” Ross reflects. “I’m proud to be able to offer someone the same opportunity I had 10 years ago.”
Beyond mentoring Luke, Ross is committed to investing in the future of plumbing and skilled trades. He believes in the importance of apprenticeships and the role they play in sustaining the industry. “The trade has been incredibly rewarding for me, and I want to ensure it continues to thrive by supporting apprentices like Luke,” he adds.
Luke’s addition to Gillon Bathrooms & Heating marks an exciting new chapter for the business and highlights the significance of apprenticeships in fostering local talent. By providing real-world experience and mentorship, Ross is helping to shape the future of the trade - one apprentice at a time.
