Following her success on our HNC ASN course, Leigh progressed her learner journey by graduating from the University of Glasgow in 2020 as a Primary School Teacher.
Speaking of her time on the HNC ASN course at SLC, Leigh said: “The HNC Additional Support Needs course gave me the tools and experience I required to progress into teaching. The course confirmed what I already suspected, that teaching was the career for me. The time I spent at College before embarking on the university course gave me an understanding and awareness of the many needs that children may have, and how we can support them to ensure that their needs are met.”
Leigh continued, “The HNC ASN course introduced me to the concepts of planning, evaluating and reflecting on coursework. This insight has been invaluable in the context of teaching. There are many aspects of the HNC Additional Support Needs course that have complemented my time on my university course. Completion of the HNC ASN gave me the confidence I needed to progress to university.”
Leigh summed up her time on the HNC Additional Support needs course by calling the programme “an excellent foundation”. Leigh was delighted to say “The HNC ASN is a wonderful course run by supportive and encouraging lecturers. I would not have made it as a primary school teacher had I not first gained the experience and knowledge that I acquired from completing this college course. For anyone who desire to go into a career with a focus on the welfare of others, in my opinion the HNC ASN is the course for you.”
