SVQ LEVEL 3 HAIRDRESSING

Intro to the course:

This course is for those who have completed SVQ level 2 or SCQF level 5 hairdressing or those who already have some skills and experience of hairdressing. It will refine your skills, and knowledge. It can help secure entry to HNC study or an entry-level position/apprenticeship in the industry. You will develop skills to creatively cut hair, creatively colour hair using advanced techniques, provide colour correction services and hair smoothing treatments, creatively set and dress hair using advanced techniques and consult, plan and assess to deliver services. Work placement included within this course.

Who is the course for?

This course is ideal for anyone with qualifications in SVQ level 2 or SCQF level 5 hairdressing  who want to progress to the next creative level in hairdressing.

What will I study?

You'll learn current industry  hairdressing skills. The course covers:

• Creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques, 
• Creatively colour hair using advanced techniques
• Colour correction services
• Creatively set and dressing advanced techniques
• Consult, plan and assess

Optional units include:

• Provide hair smoothing treatments 
• Artistic design in hair cutting and styling
• Artistic design in colouring

Work placement is undertaken within the course.

How will I be assessed?

Practical assessments and a portfolio evidence. Open and closed book Solar assessments. Work experience.

This course builds on your skills and knowledge to progress your career in hairdressing. You'll be taught in our purpose-built hairdressing salon by industry-experienced staff. You'll get the chance to work in our commercial training salon and to gain a valuable insight into the wider industry through our partnerships with companies such as Wella,  Hair and Beauty World and Capital Hair and Beauty. This will give you the best chance to progress into higher-level study or an entry-level position in the industry.

This course leads to work as a hairstylist in a salon.

What are the entry requirements?

One or more of the following: 

• SCQF level 5 Hairdressing or SVQ level 2 Hairdressing 
• NPA Hairdressing Technical Skills level 5 
• Relevant industry experience 
• Skills test for all candidates at interview 
• Acceptance will require a successful interview.

What are the interview arrangements?

Interview on campus with lecturing team, qualifications, reference and skills test.

Fees for full time is £1008

Other information:

Candidates are required to secure a placement within a hairdressing salon on one day per week for 6-9 weeks as part of the course.

Full time course: This course will run 16 hours per week for 36 weeks
