Intro to the course:

This course is an excellent way to upskill your staff to meet first aid needs. It can be taught to individuals, or we can attend your business to deliver the course.

The course covers the topics required to ensure learners meet the requirements to be able to support first aid provision. 

Learners will develop knowledge in: 

  • First aid regulations
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Use of a Automated Defibrillator
  • Recovery Position
  • Treatment of injuries
  • Treatment of burns 
  • Treatment of nosebleeds and more. 

The balance of theory and practical ensures that knowledge learnt is reinforced. Your lecturer will draw on their knowledge, experience and training to ensure you receive a positive learning experience and develop the confidence to deliver first aid.

Who is the course for?

This course is designed for anyone who wishes to be able to have the skills to act as a first aider. It may be that you are looking to developing a new skills or you wish to update your certificate. 

It is also suitable for businesses, who would like to upskills their staff or ensure they have first aiders within their organisation. 

What will I study?

You will study a variety of topics including: 

  • Health and Safety legislation
  • Safe working practice for first aid
  • Infection control
  • Accident scene management
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • Recovery Position
  • Use of an Automated Defibrillator
  • Assessment and treatment of injuries and fractures
  • Assessment and injuries of burns. 

We also look at issues such as consent and communication to ensure all our learners understand their obligations as a first aider as well the points surrounding medication administration.

This course can help support your application to multiple courses, demonstrating your ability to learn both theory and practical information,.

How will I be assessed?

The assessment is a mixture of theory and practical. 

You will be tested through a written set of questions. 

In addition, you will be assessed on your practical skills and delivery of treatments. Materials required for assessment will be provided.

What are the interview arrangements?

There is no interview for this course, with entry based on your application and paying the required fee.
