NC BEAUTY THERAPY

Intro to the course:

This is an entry level  course for those looking to start a career in beauty therapy. It introduces you to beauty practical skills and essential knowledge to enable progression to a higher-level course. You will learn about skin care, manicures and pedicures, nail art, massage and waxing techniques and day and corrective make-up.

This course is ideal for anyone wanting to start a career in beauty therapy. It is ideal for school leavers or those looking to change career. The course will prepare you for progression into employment within the Beauty industry.

What will I study?

You'll learn how to provide various Beauty therapy treatments after developing skills in  the following :

• Facial skincare treatments
• Hand and foot care 
• Back, neck and shoulder massage
• Gel and acrylic nails
• Developing Make-up Skills
• Improving wellbeing 
• You'll learn through groupwork, workshops, demonstrations, lectures, industry visits and guest speakers.

How will I be assessed?

Practical assessment on live clients. Closed and open-book written assessments.

Why should I choose this course?

The beauty industry needs skilled staff. This introductory course will teach you the necessary skills and techniques needed for entry to a higher-level course in beauty therapy. You'll be taught in our beauty therapy studios by lecturers with current industry experience. Engagement with employers such as Ellisons, Hair and Beauty, Manicure company, Capital Hair & Beauty, Dermalogica and others will give you an insight into the industry, and offer opportunities and experience.

Where can this course lead?

This course prepares you for salon work and self-employment as a therapist.

What are the entry requirements?

One or more of the following: 

• Two National 4 qualifications 
• Commitment and dedication to the course 
• Keen interest in the beauty therapy industry 
• Acceptance will require a successful  interview

What are the interview arrangements?

Group information session. Individual short interview.

Fees for full time is £1008

This course is eligible for Bursary.
