EMERGENCY FIRST AID IN THE WORKPLACE

Intro to the course:

This course allows an individual to become a first aider within their workplace. 

 

The content is a mixture of theory and practical covering topics such as 

  • Cardiac arrest and cardiopulmonary resuscitation;
  • Care of the unconscious individual
  • Burns
  • Wounds
  • Basic accident management. 

Each section will cover theoretical and practical aspects, with a chance for you to discuss experience, scenarios and consider what you would do. 


There is a maximum of 12 people in the group, so this allows an increased level of support for learning. 

 

Current planned dates:  

  • Tuesday 4th March (1800-2100) and Thursday 6th March (1800-2100). Both evenings must be attended to receive certificate. 
  • Monday 10th March 2025 (0900-1615)

Who is the course for?

The course is for anyone that wishes to attain knowledge and practical competences required to deal with a range of workplace first aid situations.

What will I study?

You will study a variety of topics that are relevant to First Aid including such as an understanding of the role and responsibilities of a first aider, how to minimise the risk of infection to self and others. 

You will also cover legal aspects such as the need for consent to provide first aid and the legislation surrounding first aid. 

Scene surveys and primary patient surveys will be covered to help you in the safe and confident assessment of patients. 

Drawing on the expertise and experience of highly qualified staff, you will gain insight into the world of first aid and hopefully help in stimulating your interest to taking it further. 

Next step course options

This one day course can support you in career progression. It is evidence of Continuing Professional Development. 

How will I be assessed?

Practical and theory assessment throughout the day with some written work required.

You will demonstrate your ability to apply what you have learnt throughout the day, with a chance to practice and then be assessed in a safe, secure environment. 

All the topics covered over the course of the day will be included.

This is an excellent course for anyone wishing to learn about emergency first aid in the workplace. It is a good course to support CPD development, personal development and can be utilised in a variety of situations. 

 

You will be taught by those who have been involved in providing first aid, but also have healthcare backgrounds ensuring you get real life experiences and the chance to discuss actual and potential situations.
