This Higher course is an advanced level course designed for students whose first language is not English. It is to aid progression to a full-time college course, university study or employment. The course will prepare you for the Higher ESOL exam which can gain you access to further courses at college or university.

This course is ideal for those looking to learn English as a second language. The course will suit school leavers or anyone looking to improve their English.

What will I study?

SQA Higher ESOL is for Advanced students who have already developed ESOL reading, listening, speaking and writing skills. The course will prepare you for the Higher ESOL exam which can gain you access to further courses at college or university.

There's possible progression to alternative courses of study, voluntary work and employment.

How will I be assessed?

External SQA National exam.

What are the entry requirements?

Entry to this course is subject to one or more of the following: SQA National 5 at Grade A or B, or equivalent. Course entry may be subject to interview.

What are the interview arrangements?

Interview on campus with lecturing team, including completion of a level placement test.
