Intro to the course:

This 18 week fast track course is ideal for those wishing to enter employment or self-employment within the nail industry. You will develop the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully progress into the workforce.

You will learn how to perform hand and foot treatments with creative nail finishes including gel polishes. You will become skilled in the use of tip and overlay nail enhancements using acrylic and how to apply nail art. You will develop knowledge and understanding of nail care and the expected client care skills to adopt within this creative industry. The course will also provide you with knowledge relating to health and safety requirements within the industry.

Who is the course for?

This 18 week course is ideal for those wishing to start a career as a nail technician. It will suit school leavers or those looking to change career and progress into the industry. You will develop skills in hand and foot manicures with a variety of products including Gel and Acrylics.

What will I study?

You'll learn the skills for working in the nail service industry. The course includes manicure and pedicure, nail art, applying and maintaining nail enhancements and gel polishing.

Practical assessment, closed- and open-book.

 This fast track 18 week course will enable you to develop the necessary skills to progress speedily into the workforce. The industry needs skilled technicians. You will learn the skills and techniques needed for entry-level work as a nail technician or on to a higher-level course in beauty therapy. You'll be taught in our nail salons by our highly trained staff  who hold current industry experience. You will gain experience within our commercial training salons, working on clients and models providing nail services and treatments.

This course leads to self-employment or salon work as a nail technician or therapist.

What are the entry requirements?

One or more of the following: 

  • two National 4 subjects 
  • keen interest in the nail trade 
  • acceptance may depend on interview

What are the interview arrangements?

Group information session. Short individual interview.

Fees for full time is £1008

This course is eligible for Bursary.

Full time course: This full time short bursary funded course will run for 12 weeks, 17 hours per week
