This course is for those with limited English. It will give you a good understanding of the English language for speaking, listening and reading. It will help you progress to further study and work.

Who is the course for?

For students with a National 2 ESOL qualification. If you don’t have this, don’t worry. We will do a test to see which class is best for you.

What will I study?

You’ll develop the language skills needed for routine work and study. You’ll practise the four key English language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking using simple English language. Areas covered include: 

  • job interviews 
  • workplace language 
  • applying for college courses 
  • grammar 

You’ll learn through groupwork, lectures and guest speakers.

How will I be assessed?

Ongoing assessment of ability in speaking, listening and writing in English.

Why should I choose this course?

You’ll learn speaking, listening and writing skills needed to work and study in the UK. It will help with going on to further study or into employment. We work with the local authority and Jobcentre Plus to help you progress.

Where can this course lead?

You will improve your chances of going into further education and securing future work.

What are the entry requirements?

One or more of the following: 

  • National 2 ESOL qualification 
  • placement test to see which class is best for you 
  • course entry may be subject to interview

What are the interview arrangements?

Interview with lecturing team, and test to assess your level.
